Martha was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, where she sang faithfully in the junior choir at Christ Church. After receiving an A.B. degree from Davidson College, she went on to earn a J.D. degree from the University of Virginia Law School. After several years as a tax attorney worshipping at St. Paul’s, Alexandria, she discerned a call to the ordained priesthood. Martha graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary in 1995 and was the assistant rector at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Richmond, Virginia, until 1997, when she was called to be priest in charge of St. Frances Anglican Church in Walkerville, South Africa. Martha, her husband Bryan Kelleher, and their children Jack and Anna moved back to the States in August 2000 to minister to the Memorial community.
