Martha was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, where she sang faithfully in the junior choir at Christ Church. After receiving an A.B. degree from Davidson College, she went on to earn a J.D. degree from the University of Virginia Law School. After several years as a tax attorney worshipping at St. Paul’s, Alexandria, she discerned a call to the ordained priesthood. Martha graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary in 1995 and was the assistant rector at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Richmond, Virginia, until 1997, when she was called to be priest in charge of St. Frances Anglican Church in Walkerville, South Africa. Martha, her husband Bryan Kelleher, and their children Jack and Anna moved back to the States in August 2000 to minister to the Memorial community.
Marilynn Cornejo Wiseman has served Memorial Church for over 20 years as parish administrator. Marilynn is Memorial's command central who sets up and copies the Sunday bulletins, bookkeeper, answers the door and the phone, knows how to contact Martha+, and much, much more. If you don't know who to call for an answer, Marilynn is the first place to start.
Sharon has served the Samaritan Community as its program director for 25 years. Her office is in the undercroft with the rest of the Memorial staff offices. Paul Seaton is a native of Chattanooga, TN, a graduate of the University of North Carolina, and a Vietnam Veteran who applied for a volunteer position at Memorial in 2007 after retiring from a 33 year career in the field of international health. Paul has worked in several African countries and developed a successful international health fellowship program at Johns Hopkins which he directed for 20 years. Paul re-joined organized religion in 1993 after his first visit to Memorial and has served our community in many ways since then.
Becky is a native Baltimorean and a cradle Episcopalian. She came to Memorial more than 30 years ago after about 10 years of church-free living, and immediately felt at home. Since then she has been involved in almost everything at least once—acolytes, parish dinners, rummage sales, stewardship, food pickup from the Giant, vestry and a host of committees. Her real call is to the Altar Guild. Her recent retirement from The Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health, where she was a data analyst for 38 years, gives her even more time to be at Memorial and help in whatever capacity, particularly with worship.
Stacey McGhee is serving on the staff at Memorial as the Missioner for Christian Formation for Children and Youth for the 2009-2010 program year. Bev Sanderson, our new Missioner for Christian Formation for Children
Participating in Christian Formation is a wonderful way for me to nurture my continued passion for teaching, now that I am a retired school teacher. A variety of experiences including teaching in early childhood Montessori education (18 mos - 5 years) , middle school, as well as special education (high school level, emotional/behaviorial and learning disabilities have brought me to this moment in time. Currently, I am volunteering in an ESOL program with Korean and Chinese adults. As a parent, I have raised a young child in a church setting and taught Sunday school (K - 4th) and worked with youth groups and Church hour programs.
I enjoy keeping in touch on a regular basis with all of the wonderful people with whom I taught Sunday school and youth programs - for it is really the rich relationships that we build in Christian context that nurtures a lifelong faith. I remember how I wanted the best for my daughter, Cara, 27 who is an engineer expecting her first child. The cycle begins anew. I am a member of the EFM program and nurture my faith through prayer , Bible Study and dialoging with Christian friends. I am excited for this year to begin - getting to know you better and learning what is the very best we can provide for our Children in Christian Formation.
Shalom, Bev Sanderson
